I've recently purchased a new 1DX2 and on the small LCD it reads: file 9210. take those shutter counts with a grain of salt, because maybe even Canon doesn't know for sure. I count much more negatively - a camera with serious wear, scuff marks or scratches - than one with a high shutter count.Īpparently there are a couple of firmware hacking tools out there that can be used to reprogram to whatever value you want, the memory address that contains the shutter count on a Canon or Nikon camera. While the shutter count can be useful when making a used camera purchasing decision, there are many factors to consider. They will show you it in the menus but it will cost you $6000. Why can't they display this information somewhere in the menus, gives them extra service when people realize they need their shutter replaced or cleaned anyways. I do like this feature as I had to buy an app to count the clix on my spare 7D2 before selling it.Īnd all those apps don't work with the newer bodies anyways.so now there is no way to get a count (maybe sending it to Canon would be the only way) on 5DS/R, 80D(I think) and 5D4 as I recall.įrom the release notes on the ShutterCount program for Macs.Īlways wondered why canon was so secretive about shutter count. I just checked mine 28,000 since I got it on May 5th.

I thought that was reset when you replaced the battery, or card? I know there is nothing out there for a 5D4 and Mac right now. The 1DX/2 cameras tell you the Shutter Count in the menu.to the nearest 1000 anyways. Is there a program to get the 1DX Mark II shutter count on a mac? I'm thinking it is not possible.
